Black Forest 1880 Antique Carved Oak Bookcase Display Cabinet
Magnificently hand carved in the Black Forest region, where France and Germany meet Switzerland, this oak bookcase, china cabinet or sideboard has griffins, birds, nuts and leaves in three dimensions.
The deep finish is in excellent condition on this European antique furniture, made for a country manor. Adjustable upper shelves have carved edges. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and carved "branch" pulls. Raised side panels are richly detailed as well. The lower doors have the most spectacular scenes of birds.
Two separate pieces for easier moving, the lower door lock and key work, the top key is a handle only, that lock does not operate.
Measurements are 59" wide at the base, 22" deep, 8' 7" tall and the base cabinet is 39" high.
