Richly hand carved of solid oak about 1870, this bookcase has marvelous spiral columns, plus panels of "music" with bagpipes and "art" showing a palette and brushes.
Doors have old wavy glass on this furniture from northern Europe, often called "Black Forest" design. The original finish is remarkably well preserved with glowing antique patina. Interior shelves adjust on wooden supports, the lower drawer has hand cut dovetail joints. Deep moldings are hand carved. The right door has an old repair on the center molding and is slightly warped at the top, see photos.
This imposing bookcase can be disassembled for delivery. Dimensions are 49" wide, 21" deep and 7' tall.
