Carved Oak 1880's Antique Artwork Pedestal or Column

A massive carved quarter sawn oak column or pedestal from the 1880's was made to hold a treasured work of art or a lamp. A working electric outlet was later mounted on the backside for a lamp or sculpture light.
The finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. There are shrinkage separations from age plus small losses at the edges, see photos.
Both the top and base measure 18 1/2" x 20" wide, height is 34 1/2" overall.
