This statue of a coal miner walking on rough ground from the early 1900's is signed "J. Becox." Cast in spelter, a pewter like metal alloy, the very dark bronze finish is in very fine condition, preserved with satin lacquer. The lantern is later and can hold a votive candle.
This antique sculpture from France has a wooden base. Becox is best known for a similar statue of a blacksmith.
