A charming country antique oak barrel style butter churn is signed "Dobson Mfg. Co. Favorite, Rockford, Ill." A hook locks the barrel to the frame for filling - this picturesque antique would be fun filled with ice for a party cooler.
The iron-bound barrel spins with a crank, the end screws shut and has a porthole window to check on the butter. Dating from about 1900, the finish is very good in a warm brown tone.
Although we didn't have enough cream for a test run, the churn appears to be in working condition. Total height is 32" tall, the base is 20" x 24" and the barrel itself is 17" tall.
