A magnificent acanthus carved bed dates from about 1825 during the American Empire period, and has been adapted to fit a queen size mattress as shown.
Solid mahogany with deeply hand carved classical motifs, this substantial four poster bed was crafted "back east." The deep and rich finish is in excellent condition with warm antique patina.
Original side rails were extended, rugged cross pieces installed and a pallet furnished to support a standard modern queen size mattress, see photos. We suggest not using a separate spring unit to keep the bedding less tall as shown. The foot board can be disassembled for moving, the top 14" sections of the headboard are removable for easier maneuvering.
Measurements of this grand and stately furniture are 92" long, 64" wide, and 86" tall.
