Erard London 1870s Antique 8.5' Rebuilt Concert Grand Piano #56541

A magnificent historic concert grand piano was hand crafted by France's finest maker, "Erard - London"

• Signed by English branch of Sebastian Erard of Paris, (1752-1831), supplier to Louis XVI, who escaped to London after French Revolution
• Serial number 12235 from about 1870
• Case signed "C. Martin", senior employee of Erard's in London
• Restored and rebuilt in 2012 by Hendricks Steinway dealer, Downers Grove, IL for over $30,000
• Warm "antique" sound with rich tone, smooth action and intact sound board
• Case hand carved of exotic Calamander wood, also known as Coromandel or Macassar Ebony, mahogany accents, and carving accented with gold leaf
• Old finish cleaned and preserved with a coat of clear finish
• Mars, losses, surface irregularities, touchups & old repairs - see photos
• Brass hardware and natural material keys are original
• Professionally tuned and adjusted, tip included for oval tuning pins
• Music desk with indecipherable monogram for original custom commission
• Erard made pianos for Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and played by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt
• Similar concert grand purchased by Queen Victoria for Prince Albert, now at Buckingham Palace, another is at the Smithsonian in DC

Size is 8' 6" long, 55.5" wide and 39" tall.
