A classical black and colored marble mantel clock was crafted in France during the 1880's, and has an "open escapement" visible in the dial. There is delicate carving with gold, the signature is "A.D. Mougin." There are small cracks on the inner porcelain dial near the right winding keyhole, see photos.
Professionally cleaned and oiled, the brass movement keeps accurate time for a week on a winding. A silvery toned bell counts the hour and the half. A beveled glass door is hinged over the porcelain dial on this antique timepiece.
Size is 16" wide, 5 1/2" deep and 9 1/2" tall.
