French Carved Rosewood Marble Top Nightstand

An elegant antique French Louis XV design rosewood nightstand, bedside table or pedestal dates from about 1890 and has a reddish marble top. The original finish is excellent with warm patina. Exquisite diamond matched panels are outstanding.

The wonderful Roccoco carving is truly amazing and shows stunning artistry. Expert hand carving is in high relief, panels are diagonally matched.

Rosewood has a sublime delicate grain and color, is extremely hard, and has a silken original finish with warm antique patina. The interior cabinet is lined in ceramic. There is a hand dovetailed drawer, and knobs are original. Minor mars at the edges and shrinkage are as expected with age. There is an old repair to the marble, which has been polished, see photos.
