French Marquetry Cylinder Rolltop Desk

This exquisite marquetry desk with a cylinder or barrel roll top has diagonally matched mahogany inset with satinwood, tulipwood, ebony and rosewood plus banding surrounding the finely detailed designs. There are only minor mars or wear, the original polished finish is excellent.
The top rolls up smoothly, revealing tiny drawers and cubicles inside, the writing surface slides forward. There is a slight gap at the left side when the roll is down, see photos. Brass pulls and mounts are original from about 25 years ago. A brass key locks the cylinder roll. Drawers have hand-cut dovetails on solid oak sides.
Superior European craftsmanship is stellar on this elegantly proportioned desk. Measurements of this serene vintage furniture are 30" wide, 18" deep and 40" tall, the writing surface is 29 1/2" high.
