An authentic Georgian period tall case or grandfather clock from about 1800 is signed by the maker, "J. G. Bradley of Liverpool," England.
The classic and well proportioned case is mahogany with inlaid rosewood banding. The old finish has wonderful warm patina - waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the beautiful luster. There are irregularities and restorations as would be expected, in the door is a working lock and key.
Professionally cleaned, adjusted and oiled, the superior quality brass 8 day movement keeps excellent time. There is a bell strike on the hour, the calendar hand works as well. The winding crank is old but not original.
All original, the wonderful hand painted iron dial has artistic treatments of goats plus an exceptional moon dial. Old wavy glass in the bonnet door is charming. Hammered brass weights and pendulum appear original on this historic British antique.
Measurements of this historic furniture are 25" wide, 10" deep and 7' 10" tall.
