This authentic Georgian style secretary desk has a bookcase top with wavy glass panes. Masterfully crafted of mahogany in the mid to later 1800's, this antique furniture is in wonderful condition.
The top "drawer" is actually a pull-out desk with a leather writing surface, tiny compartments and drawers with beautiful little hand-cut dovetails.
Polished to a gleaming patina, the finish is excellent, enhancing the brilliant flame grain mahogany. Minor mars and scratches to the finish and chips at the edges add character to the exceptionally warm and glowing finish.
The upper bookcase is separate for easier moving. Behind the matched and banded lower doors is a shelf that slides into grooves cut into the sides. Functional and beautiful, this historic desk measures 39" wide, 23" deep, 6'7" tall and the writing surface is 30 1/2" above the floor.
