Georgian period homes were much smaller than modern ones and required furniture that was useful, yet compact in tight spaces. This slant front secretary desk would've been found in a merchant's home, keeping their documents and accounts safe from prying eyes.
- 1770s antique American made furniture
- Solid walnut with later brass hardware
- Old varnish has been cleaned and preserved with a coat of clear finish
- Mars, stains, warps, losses, & shrinkage separations from age - see photos
- Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and pine sides
- Slant front key is handle only, interior cabinet has a working lock & key
