A late Georgian secretary desk and bookcase from the mid 1800's was hand crafted in England. Mahogany with an old finish this secretary is in very good condition with warm antique patina. The removable upper bookcase has grill work with wavy glass panes and shelves that adjust by sliding into grooves.
The bookcase lock has a working key, other keys are handles only, locks do not work. There have been numerous restorations over the years, plus losses, warps, dings and stains for character as shown.
Brasses on this historic British furniture were replaced about a century ago. The drop front desk rests on pull out supports, inside are two leather "book" compartments. Graduated drawers have hand dovetailed oak sides and chamfered bottoms.
Dimensions of this functional desk are 46" wide, 27" deep, 7' 1/2" tall and the desk top is 31" high on this historic British furniture.
