This splendid sideboard and china cabinet or bookcase was handcrafted in Germany about 1825 and shows Biedermeier design influence.
Walnut and oak with inlaid fruitwood banding and inlaid geometric marquetry, the finish is in excellent condition with warm antique patina. There are numerous repairs and restorations over almost two centuries plus shrinkage separations from age.
Hand engraved rose brass hardware appears original on this historic cabinet. Glass shelves and adjustable hardware are modern. On the backside are chalked German delivery names and fragments of newspaper.
Two separate pieces for easier moving, this graceful furniture has wooden pegs, hand cut dovetail joints on the case and drawers and wrought iron nails are visible.
Historic and functional still today, measurements are 6' wide, 19" deep, 94 1/2" tall and the base is 32" high.
