A cast iron strongbox from around 1870 was probably used on a train, ship or stagecoach for cash, gold, bonds, etc.
The interior is stenciled "Patented" on this American made antique. The old paint is nicely worn, embossed iron handles are original. The lid has a hasp that would have been locked with a padlock.
Size is 14" wide, 9" deep and 7" tall.
