A magnificent Renaissance design sideboard cabinet was carved in the 1890's for a palazzo in northern Italy, and signed "Pietro Portalupi, Torino," Turin in English.
Solid walnut was artistically handcarved with lion paws, faces, fruits, classical motifs, deep moldings and grill work. The deep rich finish is in excellent condition with warm patina and a few losses at the edges for antique character. Drawers have carved knobs and solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joinery on this historic heirloom furniture. One original key operates all door locks, some of the replacement keys are handles only, they do not work all the locks.
The upper section is a separate piece for easier moving. Measurements of this dramatic and palatial cabinet are 7' 2" wide including the paw feet, 24" deep, 85 1/2" tall and the base is 41" high.
