A small Japanese "kanto naga Hibachi" brazier from the early 1900's is ash and elm burl with a copper lining. A small charcoal fire was used for cooking, making tea and heating sake wine.
Drawers for towels, tea leaves and dried seaweed were built with wooden pegs. The copper lining and brass pulls have nice antique patina, see photos. The desk work area, frame and lid are removable the lid was once hinged.
There are stains and mars to the warm old finish, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its glow is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Size is 29" long, 16" deep and 16" tall.
