A spectacular solid mahogany "S" curve rolltop desk dates from about 1900 and has raised panels on all sides.
It is signed on the brass keyhole escutcheon by noted Indiana maker "Shelbyville Desk Co." The rich deep finish is in excellent condition with a few mars at the edges for character and patina, see photos.
The roll operates smoothly and has a working lock. Inside are drawers with label holders, cubicles, pencil drawers and letter holders. Below are deep dovetailed drawers with birdseye maple bottoms, there is a large file drawer. Two pull-out shelves add workspace.
Clean lines and richly grained wood distinguish this imposing American furniture. This historic antique desk can be disassembled for moving.
Size is 60" long, 36" deep, 52" tall, the work area is 31" high, the knee hole is 25" wide and 25" high.
