The Victorian version of a laptop computer, this mahogany and brass traveling or lap desk dates from the 1870's.
This charming box flips open, creating an angled writing desk with an old rose velvet writing surface. There is an original glass inkwell with a brass lid, plus compartments for pens and points. Underneath is space for stationery, and pushing on the bottom of one tiny compartment pops open a secret panel, revealing three tiny drawers.
The antique finish is original with a beautiful gleaming patina, and the brass presentation plaque on top was never engraved. There are recessed carrying handles on the ends.
Because of a warp in the top section, see photo, the lock does not latch. Size is 20" long, 10" deep and 7" tall.
Shipping USPS Priorty mail within 48 states is $55.
