This magnificent poster bed was hand made in New England about 1830, and has been expertly adapted to fit a standard queen size mattress as shown in photos.
All four solid cherry posts are hand turned, both of the foot posts are spiral turned. Originally supporting a canopy and side curtains for protection from summer insects and wintry drafts, the substantial side rails have original pegs for winding rope into a "spring" unit.
The headboard panel is solid mahogany, the gleaming finish is excellent everywhere. This historic furniture bolts securely together, a removable pallet has been added in the center to support bedding.
Measurements of this extraordinary American antique are 68" wide, 88" long and just over 7' tall.
