A splendid cylinder or barrel roll top desk was hand crafted in Germany about 1900. Solid fine grained oak, the renewed finish is in excellent condition. There is a shrinkage separation from age in the roll top, see photos.
Drawers have solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints on this antique library furniture. Three drawers across the top share a single key, top right and left lower drawers also have individual keys, other locks have no keys. Embossed brass hardware is original.
The pull out writing surface has new natural saddle leather. Lower doors cover banks of three drawers, the left bank are rebuilt tray drawers. For easier moving, this desk is composed of stacking sections.
Measurements are 57" wide, 35" deep, 55" tall and the desktop is 30" high. The knee hole is 21" wide, and 24" tall.
