Oak Carved 1780 Antique Dutch Trunk, Dowry or Blanket Chest #30914

A large trunk or dowry and blanket chest from Holland was hand hewn of solid oak about 1780. There are hand planing marks everywhere on this rustic antique furniture. Traditional folk art motifs are expertly hand carved.
The old finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Wrought iron hardware is original, the lock does not work. Inside is a small covered compartment for valuables.
Dimensions are 49" long, 24" deep and 28" tall.
