Hand carved of solid oak and dated 1896, this imposing tall case or grandfather clock is signed "Hans P. Dam, Ronne," in Denmark.
The lavishly hand carved case has an original finish in remarkably fine condition. Waxed an polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster. The brass one week movement is also signed and keeps excellent time. There is a bell strike counting the hour.
The hand hammered dial is exquisite. Numerals are engraved into a silverplate ring, cast brass ornaments in the corners have delicately embossed women and birds and the center is artistically hand engraved. Crank, brass weights and pendulum all appear original on this marvelous European antique furniture.
Ronne is a beautiful rocky island off the Swedish coast, known as the "Pearl of the Baltic Sea." Measurements are 24" wide, 16" deep and 90" tall.

This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a house-call and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
