Signed by famous maker, "Story and Clark of Chicago," this solid oak pump or reed organ dates from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1890. This parlor organ plays well with strong tone, a few keys do not work, probably from dust in the reeds.
Enchanting incised "spoon" or chip carving is characteristic of the period, the old finish is very fine. An original beveled mirror has enough "smoke" to show its age.
Original hand painted porcelain stops control the voices, a cover slides out over the keys. Behind the music desk is storage, right and left are shelves for oil lamps or candles. Pedals have old hand made needlepoint.
Size of this historic American musical instrument is 46" wide, 23" deep and 80" tall.
