An 1830's four poster "rope" bed has been adapted to fit a standard modern twin or single mattress as shown. Solid mahogany, the renewed finish is in excellent condition on this East Coast American made antique furniture.
Originally used with a canopy and mosquito net curtains, the headboard posts were not exposed and were simply shaped. Footboard posts were lavishly hand carved with a spiral motif and turnings. Bolt covers are embossed brass, one is slightly different.
An upholstered platform or pallet to use instead of a spring unit is included to keep the headboard from being covered by bedding.
Dimensions are 42" wide, 83" long, 70" high and without the removable finials, posts are 66 1/2" tall.
