A magnificent writing desk or library table was hand carved of oak in the Renaissance manner about 1900. Lavish artistry in high relief has lion heads at both ends.
Matched and banded, the top has been revarnished for durability and stain resistance. The base retains its original finish in very fine condition and has been waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm antique patina.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, keys are handles only, the locks do not work on this palatial desk from the north of Italy.
Measurements of this grand library furniture are 5' 3" long, 36" deep, 30 1/2" tall and legroom is 25" high underneath.
