This spectacular court cupboard from about 1890 descended in the family of a court jester to the Royal House of Denmark, and has traditional hand carved sculptures of jesters. Only the jester could be totally honest with the king without repercussions, so the "official comedian" post was a great family honor and an important post.
- Renaissance design
- Solid wormy walnut with high relief carvings of dragons and fruit
- Original finish has been waxed and buffed, preserving mars & warping. All that is needed to maintain the soft luster is an occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
- Minor shrinkage separations from age - see photos
- Cast brass hardware is original
- Hand dovetailed drawers have solid oak sides
