Hand carved about 1820 in the eastern US, this Sheraton period drop leaf table could serve for dining, breakfast, computer work or as a sofa table.
The gleaming finish is excellent, tops are all single wide planks of mahogany. Spiral turned legs are beautifully proportioned, drop leaves are supported on wooden arms with hand carved hinges.
The drawer has tiny hand cut dovetails, and the bottom has been replaced. Although over 100 years old, the brass pull is not original. Hand planing can be felt on the undersides.
Measurements of this American antique furniture with drop leaves down are 38" long, 21" wide and 28 1/2" tall; with both leaves raised, the top measures 38" x 54."
