Made for the famed Steinway piano company for their dealers to sell, this tall case or grandfather clock has a jeweled German movement signed by noted maker, "Hentschel."
All original from about 20 years ago, the American made cherry case is accented with burl panels and has an excellent finish. The locking door has beveled glass. Brass weights, pendulum and harp plus the lavish engraved dial are all in extremely fine condition.
Professionally serviced, it keeps time accurately and there is a winding crank. A lever chooses the familiar Westminster tune from Big Ben in London, Whittington or St. Micheal melodies to play on the quarter hour. The brass 8 day movement also counts the hour with deep resonant chimes and there is a "silent" position as well.
Size of this lovely vintage clock is 21 1/2" wide, 13" deep and 6' 10" tall.
This clock needs to be "set up" when delivered - weights and pendulum attached and the case leveled. Most of our customers can do this as we walk them through the fairly simple steps by phone. The process is not very difficult, and it is also nice to know how to do this again whenever the clock needs to be moved for cleaning, painting or whatever. A few customers prefer to hire a local clockmaker at their own expense to make a housecall and set up the clock, which is usually not very expensive, depending on your location.
