Carved of solid walnut with matched burl panels about 1890, a grand Victorian period secretary desk has a cylinder roll top and bookcase above.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, enhancing matched burl panels. There is a shrinkage separation from age on the roll, see photos. Dovetailed drawers have original pulls on this American made antique library furniture.
The detachable bookcase has shelves that adjust on wooden supports and original wavy glass doors. Doors have working locks and keys, there are no keys for the drawers. The pull out writing surface is inlaid with natural saddle leather. Spiral columns and incised "spoon" carving are authentic.
Measurements are just over 4' wide, 22" deep, 87 1/2" tall and the desktop is 29" high.
