A very sweet late Victorian or Eastlake secretary desk is solid walnut, front and center is a beautiful carving of a quill pen, inkwell and scroll surrounded by a burl panel.
Lovely American furniture from about 1875, the glowing finish is superb, with exceptionally warm patina. Engraved pulls are original, drawers have round or pin-and-cove dovetails of the period.
The interior has a tiny drawer and cubicles, the drop front writing area is leather, and there are a few old ink stains. There is a mar on the left front of the top, see photos.
Size of this charming antique is 30" wide, 17" deep, 47" tall and the writing area is 30 1/2" high.
