This striking Victorian Gothic "steeple" clock from the 1850's is signed "Ansonia" on the embossed nickel dial and the movement is signed "Terry & Andrews of Britol, CT," inside. The marvelous antique case has original black lacquer in remarkable condition with genuine mother of pearl inlay and hand painting with gold leaf.
The brass movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled, it has original brass springs instead of later steel springs, and keeps accurate time for a few days on a winding. The hour is counted on a gong, there is a window in front of the brass pendulum.
