A genuine "ice box," the Victorian version of a refrigerator, is solid oak and ash, paneled all around. Signed "Alaska of Muskegon, Michigan," all hardware is original, nickel over brass.
The warm brown finish is excellent, and on the back is another door for the iceman to install a fresh block of ice through a small service door without entering the house, below is wainscoting.
