Shipper: METROPOLITAN (844-546-5288 ext 235)
This traditional Dutch armoire dowry cabinet, armoire or "Kas" from about 1920 descends with a family's daughter. Shelves and a drawer would have held a bride's linens, pewter and silver.
The classic design of this cupboard dates from the Renaissance with deep hand carving in solid oak. Genuine rosewood and ebony from the Dutch East Indies colony have beautiful grain. Remarkably detailed artistry and deeply sculpted moldings are masterful.
Sliding the center ebony block over reveals the keyhole and lock operated by a key. An especially lavish Kas, the finish is original and is in excellent condition with glowing rich patina. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain its luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. As prized heirloom furniture, the workmanship is exemplary on this grandly scaled furniture from Holland.
Dimensions are 5' 1/2" wide at the crown, 24" deep and 68" tall.
