A hall bench was hand carved of solid wormy oak with folk art motifs about 1870 in Holland.
The original finish is very well preserved, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. There are several shrinkage separations from age and various restorations over the years. This functional Dutch antique furniture has loads of storage under the seat. Massive hand wrought iron handles are original, and suggest that this historic settee was probably a dowry chest.
Size is 54" wide, 24" deep and 40' tall, the seat is 21" tall.
