A Victorian 1880 era "ship captain's" desk was also called a "Davenport" after its English inventor, Col. Davenport.
The compact size and efficient use of space made this antique furniture functional on shipboard. Solid walnut, the restored finish is in excellent condition. Comfortably angled, the top has a new saddle leather writing surface, the interior is curly or birdseye maple with cubicles and tiny drawers. A locking side door opens to drawers with hand cut dovetail joints and there is a tiny pull out drawer fitted for an inkwell and pens.
Dimensions are 26" wide, 25" deep, 27" tall at the front, sloping up to 30" at the back.
