A fine example of burnt wood or "pyrography" artistry, this 1900 era plant stand or sculpture pedestal has intricate details and Latin religious inscriptions, "burned" into solid maple. This craft or art form was in vogue in America in the early 1900's.
The top has shrinkage separations from age and has been revarnished for durability. The graceful urn shaped base has its original finish in very fine condition with minor touchups.
Measurements are 16" diameter at the base and 44 1/2" tall.
