All original from about 1870, a Victorian period triple bookcase was hand crafted in France of old wormy walnut.
The original finish has just enough mars and wear for a little character and has been waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Doors have original wavy glass on this antique furniture. Shelves adjust on wooden supports, some shelves are warped from age. Locks and keys work, three lower doors are double throw, turn twice. Parts of some escutcheons are lost, see photos.
In the center is a pull out shelf, two drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. Three dimensional panels and shaped columns are imposing. The upper section is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 62" wide at the crown, 20" deep and 98" tall.
