Brass and leather, this telescope or spyglass from the early 1900's is signed, "Made in France."
Four sections pull out to focus this nautical instrument, which would be nice for a pirate. This antique was found in the port of Newport, Rhode Island, and was said to have been used on a whaling ship. There is a detachable brass cap and a sliding closer on the eye end. The leather is charmingly worn.
When closed, overall length is 10," fully extended length is 29" and 2" diameter.
