Said to be from Pennsylvania, this 1825 era secretary desk has a bookcase top with original wavy glass panes. Hand crafted of matched curly birch, the base is flanked with shaped columns.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. When the desk top is flipped open onto pull out supports, there is new natural saddle leather on the writing surface. Behind are compartments for pens and inkwells.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms. There are square cut nails and shrinkage separations from age, see photos. The bookcase is removable for easier delivery.
Measurements are 44" wide, 23" deep and 82" tall, the writing surface begins at 28" slanting up.
