An outstanding Victorian period secretary desk with bookcase from the 1870's is solid mahogany with a curly "birdseye" maple interior. Arched bookcase doors have old wavy glass, shelves are adjustable.
The restored finish is in excellent condition, flattering matched flame grain panels on this American made library furniture. A key operates bookcase doors, other locks are missing or not working. There is a slight warp to one glass door, see photos.
Inside are tiny cubicles and drawers with a few inkstains for antique character. The dropfront writing surface rests on pull out supports and has new saddle leather. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and hand carved pulls. The bookcase is removable for easier transport.
Dimensions are 46" wide at the crown, 20" deep, 92" tall and the desktop is 30" high.
