Carved in the Renaissance manner about 1890, this imposing bookcase has a leaded stained glass door, and was expertly hand crafted in Belgium.
The renewed finish preserves ebonized highlights on solid oak. Original cast brass hardware and the working lock are original, the lower hinge is lacking its bottom finial, see photos. The only damage to the stained glass that we see is a tiny flake on the surface in the upper left corner, see photos.
Raised panels and the bold crown are authentic. There have been alterations to the interior which has shelves that adjust on wooden supports. Because of the heavy door, this historic cabinet should be anchored to the wall.
Dimensions are 49" wide at the crown, 20" deep and 90" tall.
