A solid walnut secretary desk with bookcase top from the late Victorian or Eastlake period about 1885 has burl panels as well. There is artistic incised "spoon" or chip carving, characteristic of the era.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique library furniture. There are ink stains, mars and shrinkage separations from age for a little character.
Doors have original wavy glass and adjustable shelves. The drop front writing surface is new natural saddle leather. A dovetailed drawer has original ring pulls. Door locks and keys work. For easier moving, the bookcase breaks into three sections.
Measurements are 37 1/2" wide, 18 1/2" deep and 7'6" tall.
