A blanket chest, trunk or window bench was hand hewn of solid cherry in Ohio during the 1830's. There are reverse raised panels, hand planing marks and square nails.
The old finish is in very good condition, preserving just enough stains, mars and losses for antique character. There is golden "sapwood" at the edges of the wide top plank, plus shrinkage separations from age. Turned feet are original.
Size is 36" long, 16" wide and 18 1/2" tall.
