A "theodolite" or surveyor's transit is signed "Kueffel & Esser of NY," and appears to be in working condition, but we are not experts and cannot be certain. On the base are a compass and bubble level.
There are losses and an uneven top to the original well worn oak case, which has finger dovetail joints at the corner. There is a spare bubble level on this vintage scientific instrument, which was once the property of the National Park Service.
The case measures 19" long, 9" wide and 6" tall, and has a leather carry strap.
Shipping is $35 in the US.
