A very grand dresser, linen or hall chest was hand carved of wormy walnut in the Renaissance manner about 1890 in northern Italy. Lion paw feet and the marble top are beautiful.
The original finish is very well preserved with shrinkage separations from age, newly waxed and buffed, all that is needed to preserve the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints, two keys are handles only, the lower two drawers have working locks. The marble has been polished and sealed with a protective finish.
Size is 56" wide to the tips of the paw feet, 27" deep and 41" tall.
