An unusual tall lingerie chest from the Victorian period about 1880 has a door with faux drawer fronts and a working side lock opening to six similar oak drawers inside. Hand carved of mahogany with a fruit motif, this charming chest is English.
The top of this antique furniture has a restored finish in excellent condition, the rest of the old finish is very well preserved. Waxed and buffed, all that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The top has a slight warp and there are shrinkage separations from age, especially on the "faux" drawer fronts, see photos.
Drawers have solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints and original wooden knobs. There are minor losses and mars at the edges for a little character, see photos.
Measurements are 25" wide, 18" deep and 53" tall.
