This desk and matching chair was hand carved of solid walnut during the early 1900's for a palazzo in the Piedmont region of Italy near Milan. The traditional style has distinctive raised panels with curving details.
The restored finish is in excellent condition on this antique library furniture.
Tooled leather on the desk has just enough mars and wear for a little character. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and working locks. Size is 66" long, 32" deep, 32 1/2" tall and the kneehole is 19 1/2" wide and 24" high.
The chair is newly upholstered in natural saddle leather with brass nailhead trim. Reglued to serve another generation, the frame is sturdy and tight.
Size is 20" wide, 20" deep, 39" tall and the seat is 19" high.
