Originally mounted on a newel post to light a staircase, this Art Nouveau period sculpture of a barefoot young lady holding two lights dates from the very early 1900's. Original beaded glass shades covered bulbs with standard base electric sockets.
There is a switch in the base of this rewired lamp. The hardwood pedestal has an old finish on this work of art from France.
Cast in "spelter" metal alloy, the statue has an old but not original dark bronze finish. A signature at the back is illegible, but probably from one of the famed Moreau family of sculptures based on the subject and style. Bulbs not included.
Measurements are 7" diameter at the base, 15" across and 20" tall.
